Casting a Vision: Creating Alignment with Your Purpose in 2025

"Don’t expect people to understand your grind when God didn’t give them your vision." — Anonymous

As 2024 has come to a close and the beginnings of 2025 have been turbulent, it’s time to take a deep breath and refocus. It’s time to block out the noise of the outside world and look inward, creating alignment with your vision and purpose. We can often get swept up in the chaos, but the truth is, the most important thing is what drives you and fills your soul. So, how do we create that vision for 2025? It starts by understanding what truly makes you feel alive.

What Is Your Vision for 2025?

The first step is to think deeply about what you want to accomplish in the coming year. This is where your true purpose lies — it's what makes the struggles worth fighting through, what keeps you going through hard times.

  1. Close your eyes and let your mind wander freely. Don’t censor yourself. What comes to mind when you think of your life in 2025? Write it down — no judgment, no restraint. Just write.

  2. Get out of your own way. Don’t let “the Shoulds” or other people’s opinions influence you. This is your vision, and it’s about tapping into your deepest desires.

  3. Write in whatever format works for you. Whether it’s with crayon, in cursive, or even a filmed interpretive dance — whatever helps you get the words and thoughts flowing. No rules, just pure expression.

  4. Let the breakthroughs come. As the ideas flow and the "a-ha" moments hit, keep writing. Let everything out. Reread your vision to ensure that it resonates deeply with your true wants and drive.

  5. When you hit a block, take a step back. If something isn’t flowing, view it from a different angle. What’s holding you back? Take a deep breath and keep writing.

  6. Use tools that work for you. Whether it’s journaling, meditating, or even a brainstorming session with others — find your own way to dig deep and discover your vision.

Action Steps: Bringing Your Vision to Life

Once you’ve poured your heart and soul into creating your vision for 2025, it’s time to create an action plan. This will help you turn your dream into reality.

  1. Define your action steps. Now, it’s time to map out the actions needed to make your vision real. What small steps will you take first? These small actions will build momentum and turn into bigger steps over time. Here are some examples from my clients:

    • Write your bio, resume, or CV.

    • Apply for jobs in your chosen career path.

    • Create a circle of men or like-minded individuals who will support and hold you accountable.

    • Focus on personal growth: work on hobbies, and fitness, or spend more quality time with your loved ones.

  2. Cut out what's holding you back. Is it bad habits, toxic relationships, or negative self-talk? Identify what’s holding you back from reaching your vision and let it go. It’s time to remove the obstacles standing between you and your future.

  3. Forward movement is key. Always keep moving forward. Even if you don’t have it all figured out yet, take consistent action. Be present in each step you take. Trust your gut, feel the excitement, anxiety, or worry — but keep moving forward.

  4. Don’t let anxiety hold you back. Anxiety is simply fear of the future. Focus on the present moment and keep moving toward your goal. The path will unfold in unexpected ways as you take action.

  5. Define your values and purpose. What are your core values? What drives you? Reflect on these deeply and let them shape your vision. Understanding what truly excites you will help you find clarity on your purpose.

Living Your Vision: Real-Life Examples

I’ve seen first-hand how powerful it is to create and live with purpose. My clients have achieved incredible things by aligning their actions with their vision:

  • Traveling the world for a year

  • Walking the Camino de Santiago

  • Living off-grid in a cabin with their dog

  • Racing cars in Sonoma, CA

  • Spending time in a monastery

  • Applying to graduate school

  • Rededicating themselves to their current life with passion, love, and happiness

Each of these men embraced their vision and made it real. They worked with me to uncover their deepest desires and create a plan to make it happen. The common thread? They followed their passion, built a vision, and took action.
